48 Hrs in Lisbon

July 16, 2019Featured, Travel & Culture

In February I took a long weekend away to the coastal capital city, Lisbon. Brimming with colour, the capital of Portugal ecompasses bright asethetics with pastel buildings and glossy ceramic tiles galore. In a post I wrote earlier this year I’d confessed I’d developed a taste for short city breaks and was eager to adventure on some more during 2019. I enjoy the freedom of a city break, the liberation of not being encumbered by heavy luggage; the relaxation of purse strings as you know you won’t be visiting for long enough to spend a small fortune and the solace of knowing you won’t be away from your home comforts for too long. This post is short but sweet as we were only there for 2 days but here’s some of what we got up to in those 48hrs.

Where we stayed

I’m always a fan of checking out great Air B&Bs when we head on our city breaks thanks to the privacy they often offer. We were particularly lucky with this find – Bica Lisbon Sunshine – thanks to not only how well presented it was but also how affordable. Our flat turned out to be a beautiful modern space right in the heart of the city. We were able to get around so easily whilst staying here, and could walk into the city center were all the shops are within 5/10 minutes. The interiors were gorgeous and the apartment had plenty of great amenities. Plus our hosts were super friendly and helpful. A great stay!

Where we ate

Cafe Janis

This was my favourite cafe we had the pleasure of eating in during our stay simply down to the affable members of staff at this friendly eatery. Well, that and also the lovely interiors both inside and outside the establishment. The breakfast was delicious and the iced coffees were just what we were looking for on a warm sunday morning. Bliss!

Cotidioano Lisboa

We stopped here for breakfast on the first day of our trip and I opted for a savoury style Pancake. I have a taste for bacon and Pancakes, which is very american of me but sweet and savoury things mixed together is one of my weaknesses in life. Another cafe in Lisbon well worth the visit, I adored the green interiors with accents of rattan along with the very instagram worthy food.

A little pamper sesh is one of my favourite methods of self care and I have recently included using the Bondi Boost Miracle Hair Mask as one of my steps. It leaves my hair feeling deeply conditioned and moisturised with the most gorgeous refreshing scent. Plus it's cruelty free and 100% vegan. A very belated Happy New Year lovelies! After the A very belated Happy New Year lovelies! After the Christmas restrictions came into place followed by a national lockdown I wanted to take some time to think about how I could return to IG and make my content more constructive during these tough times.

Since Lockdown 3.0 began Ollie and I have started to take an earphone each, a coffee in a reusable cup and listen to the podcast ‘An Oral History of The Office’ on our daily walks so today’s little tidbit is for all my fellow The Office (US) fans! Hosted by Brian Baumgartner (our boy Kevin Malone) the Podcast takes you through the trails & tribulations the show faced trying to make it off the ground to how it became the much loved comedy it’s known as today. The production quality is *chefs kiss* and involves the whole cast including Steve yay. So a 10 outta 10 listen and a great way to entertain yourself either on a daily walk or from the safety of your own homes ☺️ #stayhomesavelives
